Truth be told, Mimi had actually tried to book just two rooms at the inn, but Mistress Alara was insistent that since there were three of them, there be three rooms rented for the night. The innkeeper had gone on about how girls all liked their privacy no matter their age or...something... In the end, Mimi could tell that the woman just wanted some extra money and obliged. Maybe they could let someone you needed it more than they did use it.
Samantha turned her horse, ready to head back with her sister when she stated that she was hungry. Her attention was successfully gained when Phina mentioned that something was happening with their final third. It seemed her little birdie had told her. She nodded and headed back through the forest. "Knowing Ranya, she's already solved the problem by now, but we need to keep good contact with each other," she said as they rode through the woods at a steady pace.
Upon reaching the edge of the forest, the ecclectic group found a large mass of people wandering around, all with rather sour looks on their faces. Mimi led Dayel a few steps forward before asking the crowd what had gone wrong. Of course, she received a large amount of different answers within a very small amount of time and waited for them to calm down and finish their rant. She nodded as if she understood, trying not to anger them any more.
Finally, she heard a very distinctive voice speak up above the others. "He was Shadowspawn!" Mimi tilted her head, wanting to relate to these people and get them to calm down. She nodded. "Mistress Ama, you and Mistress Ara should look out for him! He says he's a performer, but we all saw it!"
Good. One of her spectators. She could relate to him, then. "What did you see, sir?" He and the woman who had shouted "Shadowspawn" began to explain how the man they were looking for had seemingly read the woman's thoughts. Mimi had the feeling he would get along well with Ranya. Perhaps that's what Isrie had told Phina. "What did he look like? Did he have eyes?" Mimi had read a few books on Shadowspawn and had traveled to the Borderlands once or twice on business with her mother and sisters to do business with the Merchant's Guild of Kandor and one time for a vacation. She had seen a few Trolloc corpses and knew off-hand that there was a law in Shienar that no one could enter the capital city with their face covered so as not to allow Myrdraal entrance unknowingly...
These people were so far away from the Blight, though...she highly doubted the poor man was actually Shadowspawn.
"Yes, he did! And they was deciever's eyes! He tried to decieve us by making us think he was a respectable young man! Sent by the Dark One hisself!"
The dancer could not see the person who had said that, but she could almost feel the hatred and disgust in their voice. She gave a start at the malice and the color drained out of her face. These people were completely serious. It was rather frightening. What if someone mistook her or her sisters for Shadowspawn or Darkfriends as well? "Mistress Ama, did you see him in the forest?" the spectator asked, concern coming from his voice. She blinked. Perhaps this was all she could do for the man.
Samantha blinked in psuedo surprise. "Yes! Yes, he did!" She turned to Saraphina and wondering for a split second how to make her confirm this falsehood. "He is in the forest!" she said, looking at her sister and nodding, putting sincerity into her voice, hoping her sister would at least nod in agreement.

Rylan couldn’t help the look of utter incredulity that spread across his features at Ana’s words, nor did he try to remove it as she beckoned him towards the staircase near the back of the room. He stumbled after her, voice dropping to a low hiss once she was within earshot.
“What are you doing!?” he asked, frowning and slipping further up the flight of stairs. “You can’t pay for me, it’s not…not….right. I have no money to pay you back.” He flinched at the unintentional admission, eyes falling. A ripple of annoyance flitted through him, drawing enough anger to make him wish he hadn’t been brought up a gentleman, so he could have shoved the old woman over for botching up his performance. Had she not squealed on him, the bag in his pocket wouldn’t be so empty right now.
“It’s fine,” Rylan said hurriedly, hoping to cover his tracks. “I really, really appreciate all that you’ve done for me, Ana. But I can’t take your coin, not unless I have a solid way to pay you back. And seeing that there won’t be any performances here anymore…” he trailed off, shrugging slightly. Not to mention the innkeeper had mentioned sisters; Rylan thought that this young woman was perfectly amiable, but he wasn’t quite sure he could handle more than one of her and her generosity.
“Really, I must insist.” His gaze was apologetic as he slowly inched back down the wooden stairs. There was no way he could take it, not if—
“Where is he!?”
Rylan froze and wheeled around, catching a glimpse of his notorious beater. Mind kicking itself into gear, he all but sprinted back up the stairs, two steps at a time, grabbing Ana and hurrying down the hallway and around the corner. After almost colliding with a curious maid, he skidded to a halt and let her go, panting, “Okay! Fine! I’ll stay with you. But I will pay you back, alright?”

Ranya watched him curiously as he announced he would not stay. She could tell he was frustrated…annoyed. She couldn’t really blame him. After all, if one was a proper gentleman, and Ranya had no doubt he’d been brought up as such, it didn’t seem right for a woman to pay. She was about to say something to halt his retreat when he sprinted back up the stairs, grabbing her arm and pulling her down the hall.
“You’ve decided to stay after all? Thank goodness.” She said with a small smile as they stopped in some far hallway. “I would have been quite cross if you ran off after all the trouble. Her dark eyes twinkled. She was sure Mimi and Phina would like the young man. That piece said, she looked around in an attempt to figure out where they were.. As luck would have it they were near the rooms. Crossing to hers, she withdrew the key and stepped in. She leaned her staff against the wall, and removed her coin purse, setting it on the small table before turning her attention back to Rylan.
“To be honest, I would have paid for three rooms either way.” She admitted. “Phina doesn’t like having her own room, and usually sleeps with myself or Mimi, depending. Mistress Alara talked Mimi into getting a third room, but we insisted she keep the key, should someone else need it.” Ranya paused to lean down and pick up the old cat weaving around her legs. She smiled fondly at the purring creature before turning a warm smile to the handsome performer. “So you see, I’m not out any more money than I would have been anyway.”
She sighed deeply, and sat the cat down in her chair. “I apologize if I have offended you, Rylan, but I am not one to allow angry mobs to harm an innocent person.” She moved back, closer to the door and where Rylan was. “Your room is the one across the hall.” She pointed a bejeweled finger. “When my sisters return, you’re welcome to dine with us. I’ve made arrangements for Mistress Alara to send up some food when they get here.” She did her best to look reassuring. “For now, don’t fret over repaying me. We can discuss that once we’ve all had a good meal and rested a bit.”

There was no point in arguing with her. Rylan may have been a gentleman, but with such a rare ability came the knowledge of the finer details of learning to live and cope with women. Try as he may, there was no possible way he’d ever persuade her otherwise, given that females were inherently stubborn creatures. Beautiful, mystical, and lovely creatures, but stubborn.
So, with a lopsided, embarrassed smile, he nodded to the girl and bowed lightly at the waist. “Thank you again, Ana. For everything. I’m really sorry about earlier, you know. Running into you and all.” He bit down hard, realizing—a little too late—that he was being repetitive, and foolish. “I’d love to, er, eat with you later. And meet your sisters. I’m sure they’re just as wonderful as you are.”
Stupid, he thought, grimacing and turning to hide in the room before he could really botch the situation up any further.
It was a decently sized room, if a little small. There was a single full-sized bed tucked into the corner, with a small table and oil lamp atop it. A washing basin complete with thick white towels was placed in the opposite corner, with a desk and chair beside it. Rylan tossed his dirtied bag onto the desk and unceremoniously collapsed onto the surface of the bed, scrubbing at his face.
Really, could things get any worse? he mused, sighing. I’m sure they very well could, actually. It wasn’t the prospect of traveling with Ana and her sisters that did not bode well with Rylan, but what if the next towns they stopped in were as surly and disbelieving as the crowd he had rankled earlier? How was he going to make money? And survive?
I suppose I could work somewhere in the cities, he supplied immediately, though that option was one he wasn’t too keen on taking. Being in a city, surrounded by thousands of people, was likely to drive him mad with his…ability. No, he would have to find something else to suffice, and a small part of his mind hoped desperately that the new companions he had inadvertently stumbled upon would give him some kind of guidance.

Ranya could still tell, quite easily, that her young male companion was frustrated with her, ad quit embarrassed with himself. She knew in a situation like this, the best thing she could do would be to let him retreat into his room, regroup his thoughts and calm his frayed nerves. A light blush colored her dark cheeks when he agreed to dine with them, calling her ‘wonderful’. Although she was not sure how true the sentiment was, the words still brought the blush. She nodded, lowering her gaze so that her long, dark hair fell and hid her face. “Should you need anything…even if it is just company…please do not hesitate to knock.” Once she felt the heat leave her cheeks, she looked back up at him with another friendly smile. She watched as he went into his room before turning and entering her own.
It was exactly like the one Rylan had just entered, and it was like the one Mimi’s things occupied at that very moment just next to her own. She moved to the bed, and set down, feeling suddenly tired after the chase. Giving a small yawn, she pulled her legs u beside her on the bed, and rested her head on the pillow. It would have all been quite graceful to watch, if anyone besides Meeve had been present. She may market herself as a Fortune Teller, but if she ever took a notion to it, she was almost positive she could give Mimi fair competition in dancing. After all, her Staff training was not unlike a dance in itself, and her sister had added the scarves to the staff to make it seem more so.
She snorted rather ungracefully at the thought as Meeve joined her on the bed, demanding attention. She stroked he cat’s ears as she sighed, closing her eyes. “I know Mimi enjoys her dancing…and I enjoy my…act…” She smirked slightly as she said the word. “But poor little Phina just wants to be outside…she’s really too shy to sing in public like this...” Her dark eyes opened once more, and she watched as the cat flopped over, and began to bat playfully at her hand. “We’ve told her she didn’t have to…but she wants to pull er own weight…” She smiled as she closed her eyes once more. “Oh, Meeve…what did we do to end up with a sister so sweet? I don’t think Mimi and I deserve her…” She sighed deeply. “I do hope they haven’t gotten into any trouble…”

Saraphina had been absent mindfully listening to her sister talk, thinking over their trip so far. She was hoping to find their brothers soon and then go back home. Or to explore more, more of the wilds though, not so much the towns. She didn't like crowds or cities, small villages were okay. But then she was the odd one out of her sisters, more of a hermit type then anything else. And she knew what the family worried about, her aunts discussing with her mother her lack of interest in boys and their lack of interest in her. She was so small and slight, and while that didn't work against her sisters it did against her. Because she was odd enough as it was.
So no man would want her. She would be the crazy old aunt. Which honestly was quiet fine with the girl, leave the boys to Mimi and Rayna, she was by far happier with her animals. And then came another thing that was a perfect example of her dislike for humans. They were shouting and jeering, looking for someone to cause them harm. Sometimes, really humans were so wasteful in their energies and pursuits. She left it to her sister to ask about what the source of their anger was, for she could sense that they were very angry indeed. Was it any wonder that Phina preferred the manner her animal friends to the mob here. Animals did not harm others unless threatened or for food. Simple, clear reasons. There were no superstitions and other silliness to cause hurt and pain. No wars, no evil really. Just life and death, food and sex, simple lives rather then all the complications that humans put into life.
Then there was malice, blind and overwhelming hatred laced with fear filling the air, enough to stir the girl from her thoughts beside her sister. Dark eyes glanced up at the crowd, a slight frown marring the clear tawny skin as she blinked. It was more evil within those words then within the person they were directed at. Humans were funny like that, off putting what bad they saw in themselves upon others. She noticed her sister's pallor and knew that Mimi was upset as well by the feeling the filled the air around them.
And then suddenly her sister was looking at her, wanting something. Saraphina tilted her head, confused before her sister spoke. Oh, well if Samantha had seen him he must be. "Oh yes...in the forest." she replied softly, confirming it. Eru woofed by her side and she smiled down at the dog for a moment. "In the forest, please, let us back to town, I am weary."

Mimi felt a little relief from her sister’s nod and confirmation of her lie. She did not want to make Phina lie; she was the most pure and innocent person that she knew. However, this lie made all the people in the mob run past them into the forest. Samantha let out a relieved sigh. “That was rather frightening,” she said, leading Dayel back to the inn. “I’m sorry to make you do that, dearling,” she said sweetly to her dear sister as they rode slowly in peace to rest and recuperate. “I hope that poor man found safety somewhere…” she said quietly, wondering if any of the crowd was still lingering. Mimi’s heart still pounded with the thought of all those people out for the blood of a stranger. People were frightening despite their good intentions as they saw it. She wanted to protect her slightly younger sister from people like that. It was up to her and Ranya to keep Phina out of danger from humans.
Arriving in the Blue Traveler Inn’s stables, Samantha dismounted, doffing her cloak, letting her brightly colored costume shift slightly in the moving air. She smiled and chuckled at Wind Dancer for a moment. It seemed this horse was something of an enemy. Almost like a jealous sibling who insisted on a playful sibling rivalry. She could not explain this, really, why she had a complex relationship with a horse of all things. However, explaining things of animals that were connected to Phina was nearly impossible. It was if the animals grew more intelligent the more time they spent with her sweet sister. She patted the horse’s flanks quickly so as not to start anything. She wanted to get to Shiranya as quickly as possible.
”Welcome back, Mistress Ama and Mistress Ara,” the stable boy, the son of Mistress Alara said, giving Mimi a rather inviting smile. Good thing he was handsome. “Thank you,” she said simply, laying a hand lightly on his shoulder as she passed by. Turning around to check on her sister’s progress, she saw that the boy’s ears were turning red. How odd. He was a good two or three years older than her, and earlier, he was nothing but confidence and arrogance around her. Shaking her head, she entered the inn.
”Ama! This must be Ara!” Alara said happily and loudly. The innkeeper laughed heartily as Mimi approached, returning her greeting and introducing her sister. Your sister…that is, Ana…” the older woman began in a low voice, making the dancer lean in closer over the counter to hear. ”She brought a rather handsome young man in…looked pretty nervous, too…” Mimi leaned back and smiled slyly. “The Light be praised…”

After some time, Ranya sighed, pulling herself into a sitting position. Meeve mewed loudly, displeased with being moved. “Calm down…I think Mimi and Phina are back.” She informed the cat. She always seemed to know when her sisters were near. She always assumed it was because they were so close to one another. Although she didn’t show it often, she really loved not only Phina, but Mimi as well. She worried for one sister as much as she did the other.
Standing up, she took her hands and dusted herself off before readjusting the scarf holding her hair back. Once she was satisfied with her appearance once more, she crossed her room, and headed out into the hall. As she headed down the stairs, she noticed Alara was giving Mimi some sort of conspiratorial look. She smiled kindly as she approached her sisers and the innkeeper.
“I’m glad you’re back.” She said, stopping before Phina. “Did you enjoy yourself, sister?” Her dark eyes showed how happy she was to be with her sisters once more. They were three very different people, but she always felt better when they were together. She turned her attention to Mistress Alara. “Could you please have some dinner sent up to our rooms?”
The Innkeeper nodded. “Of course.” A knowing smile came to her lips as she asked. “Will your young friend be joining you for dinner?”
“Yes, he will.” Ranya answered simply. She had thought that was what Mistress Alara would think. Oh well, it didn’t really matter. They’d all be leaving in the morning anyway. She reached out and took one of Phina’s hands, and one of Mimi’s. “Come along, sisters. I bought you both something while I was out earlier. I do hope you like it…” She pulled them both along after her as she made her way back to her room.

The girl had blink in surprise, confused at her sister's words. Had to do what? Then she realized, that Mimi had said a lie and she had gone along with it. Oh, well that made more sense now, but the people who had gone into the woods had wanted to harm the man, and it was better to save people from harm if it was possible. So she pushed away the worry and simply directed Wind Dancer after her sister.
Her thoughts lightened as Irsie returned, she lifted her arm, letting the falcon land and get comfortable once again on her shoulder. It didn't take long to reach their new inn and the girl let out a light, happy chuckle when her gleding made a try to nibble at her sister's clothing. It was almost like the male horse was jealous of the fact that Saraphina would be leaving him in the stable and going into the inn with her sister. She dismounted easily and caressed Dancer's side, murmuring to him softly. "There's a good gent, please dear, do not harm the poor stable boy I'll come back soon I promise my dear."
Phina observed the by play between her sister and the young man, smiling as well. "Isn't she beautiful." She commented with love in her tone, turning to caress her horse once more. "He should behave for you, and if he doesn't then I'll try to repay you for his actions. Now play nicely my beloved..." she patted the horse before going after her sister. The girl smiled down at Eru as he nosed her hand, petting him and murmuring softly to the falcon on her shoulder as she entered the inn.
When her alias was spoken she nodded, smiling warmly but really just wanting to be left be. She wasn't overly sold on new people, being very shy in truth. When Rayna appeared she hugged her and held tightly to her eldest sister's hand, following happily back up the stairs and away from the crowds. "yes, until the people came, there are too many people..." she murmured softly.
