Calm After the Storm (Elatha, Tahira, Aden) « Thread Started on Dec 23, 2008, 1:41am »
Allucia sat in comfort with her three Warders reading maps of the area surrounding the Blight in Maradon. There were only two maps of that specific area that she had stored in her quarters in the White Tower. Gienon and Diomek had a few tense moments, but Khamien kept them in line just like he always did. She did not want to see Khamien in the battlefield. He had been her Warder for seventy-six years, every year that she had held the shawl. One could see his age just by looking at him, but he held the countenance of a newly bonded Gaidin. He never backed down from a challenge and acted as he had when he was twenty-two. In her bond with her friend, she could sense that his health was dwindling. He became more and more tired over almost any event. She did not want to lose another Warder here to the Blight. Losing Byaron was simply horrible. For weeks, she could not regain her Aes Sedai serenity. Even when the emotional outpour from the cutting of the bond was over, she was still grieving for his loss.
She picked up the mug in front of her, also of Seafolk porcelain. Something similar to the comforts of home helped in her thoughts. Elatha sat in front of her, engaging her in conversation of the events earlier in the day and the events that would come. Now, however, both of them were absorbed in their tea. It was nice to simply sit in friendship and enjoy a good mug of warm tea. Here in the Borderlands, warm tea seemed to be all that kept a southerner from freezing.
The Amadician Aes Sedai blinked and looked up from her tea when she heard a knock at her door. She smiled serenely when she heard Tahira’s voice asking for entry. “We”? She must have been with someone. Hopefully it wasn’t anyone too terribly important. The Green did not want to be interrupted in her time with her friends. Embracing a small amount of Saidar, she used a weave of Air to open the door. Her smile widened when she saw a rather tall and handsome man standing next to the small Yellow.
“Come in, Sister,” Allucia said happily. “And bring the gentleman, too,” she added. She noticed that the boy sported a rather Kandori beard. It was rather amusing to see such a small blonde next to such a tall man. A thought struck her as the two came in. Could this young man be Tahira’s new Warder? Her smile almost turned into a sly grin, but she held the urge back.

Tahira glanced up at Aden, a small smile still on her lips, as the door opened, presumably by means of an Air weave. She then strode forward, doing heron air weave once Aden followed to close the door. “Hello, Sisters…I hope we’re not interrupting anything. And I hope you are both well after our…exciting morning.” She helped herself to a seat in a chair near Allucia’s. “I would like to introduce both of you to Aden Cahyern.”
She realized only after she started to speak, that she really wasn’t sure how exactly to bring up the subject. Everything that came to mind sounded as if the two were going to be married, instead of having just bonded as Warder and Aes Sedai. She closed her bright blue eyes for a moment. She was behaving like a silly little girl. These were her friends, and they would understand her feelings. Opening her eyes once more, she smiled at her friends. “I was wondering if you happened to have an extra Warder’s cloak that might fit Aden.” Her tone was conversational, but her eyes betrayed her feelings. She was capable, of course, of maintaining complete Aes Sedai serenity, but what were friends for if you could not be yourself when alone with them?
The small blonde Yellow allowed her gaze to drift about the room until it landed on Allucia’s Warders. They seemed to be looking over maps of the area or something of the like. She sent a feeling of comfort and ease through her new bond to Aden. It was her way of telling him he could go speak with the other Warders if he liked. Her gaze moved back to her Sisters as she waited for a reaction from one of them.

Simply joys and delights were all that she needed at the moment.
As a Princess of Illian and a Aes Sedai she was use to many material comforts, however she disliked the thought that she might be spoiled and often forwent things that would feed to that idea. Many even in her own Ajah viewed her as a pampered and aloof person, which often made her sad, made her long again for the days when Alys had been at the Tower with her as well. But her twin, while having the spark, didn't have the power to move past a novice and had returned to the others. Yet this earthy Green Sister had seen a bit beneath her court mask and composure, seeing the sweet, thoughtful girl beneath.
It was not her fault that she had grown up instructed to know her place, to know people and get along with them, yet at the same time be above them. For common people tended to like her, those in power equal to hers, Aes Sedai, viewed her with distrust. It was a rather complicated and unhappy equation. But since that day when Allucia had informed her of the trip north it seemed that she had a friend. And that was a blessing, and with friends, conversation and tea she was more then content.
When a knock sounded on the door and she heard the familiar voice of Tahira a soft smile touched the full lips of the Blue, her beautiful eyes flashing with warmth and delight at the sight of the blond as she entered. The Yellow was another friend of hers, a new one, just like Allucia, and they were perhaps an odd triad to be friends, yet they were. The Princess simply smiled, at the interplay between her two friends, Tahira had a Warder now. Something that Allucia had been pressing for several days now. Which meant next she would turn to Elatha to bond someone, and that was a tricky business. She was a princess after all and anyone she aligned herself with had to be suitible for all that her many titles held her for. "Congratulations to you both."

Aden followed Tahira to the designated room where Allucia Sedai waited. After gaining entrance, the two were met with not only the Green, but a Blue, Elatha, if he remembered correctly. He had seen the Captain of the Guard occasionally bid her a greeting, if his memory served, she was a princess of Illian. Allucia's three Warders were talking over maps. It all had an air of peace and friendship. This was enhanced by Tahira's emotions which sent a wave of comfort through their bond. He smiled a friendly smile and entered the room with her. "Thank you, Aes Sedai," he said to Elatha for her congratulations. He took a seat next to Tahira, slightly away from the Aes Sedai and a little closer to his fellow Gaidin.
"I'm glad you finally bonded, Sister," the Green said with a smile. "And he's a Borderman, too. Those make wonderful Warders,"
Hearing a sound like a throat being cleared, Aden turned his head to see that the smaller Cairhienin Warder had crossed his arms and was making a rather sour scowl directed at him. Turning back, he listened as the Green directed her older Warder to find some cloaks that at least looked like they would fit Aden. After the man had left the room, Aden had the distinct feeling that someone was watching him. He turned back to the other two slowly and saw that the Shienaran had now taken to staring at him, but his stare was a blank unreadable stare, so he answered with his own. After a moment of this, the other Gaidin smiled and laughed heartily before patting his shoulder in a sign of friendship. "You blinked," the other man said. Aden then blinked a bit more before turning back to the Aes Sedai, wondering if his was some sort of ritual for new Warders.

Allucia smiled slightly as she watched the scene play out. The bonds of Diomek and Gienon had become very similar to each other, almost...conspiratorial. The new Warder, Aden seemed rather awkward in the room already and then he two younger Warders began to stare at him. Apparently, the boy was sensitive enough to his surroundings that he felt one of them stare at him at least. He locked eyes with Diomek first. Allucia could almost see him starting to sweat and his muscles tense, but he did neither of those things. When Diomek laughed and patted his shoulder in his gesture of brotherhood, the Green shook her head. Khamien came back in from the closet, holding an armful of Flame-branded cloaks. The older man rolled his eyes at his fellow Gaidin and thrust the cloaks on top of the maps.
As the four Warders sorted through the cloaks, feeling each other out, Allucia turned to her Sisters. Now two of the three of them had bonded at least once. In her humble opinion, each Ajah should have the right to bond more than once, but that was just her take on the matter. She knew that Elatha had at least been open to the idea of bonded a Warder, but she had only been an Aes Sedai for a short time. She would find the right man within the right amount of time. there was an amount of hurry now, though, especially after the events of the day. She wouldn't be surprised if some of the Reds were regretting their tradition now..."After seeing the Princess Merrisenda's actions today, I think perhaps she is of the same mind as Keraille," she said after taking another sip of her tea. "Sister, would you like some tea?" the Green offered the Yellow.
Her smile had turned from that of an amused observer to that of a contented friend. Around her were two Sisters, her own three brothers, not only in battle, but in spirit, and a brother of her Sister. She knew that the two Aes Sedai in front of her would understand that she kept her Warders in the same quarters with her for the reason that she viewed them as family and not for the reasons that others might see. She truly viewed her friends and her family, and would have it no other way.

Tahira gave a soft giggle as she watched the other Warders interact with Aden. She could sense a little confusion from her new Gaidin, but she simply gave him a soft smile to help assure him no ham was meant from the three others. When Allucia’s oldest warder came out of the closet, cloaks in hand, Tahira was tempted to watch as they tried to find one to fit. This was still such a new experience for her, she couldn’t help but feel excited. She tried her best to dull it down, however, not wanting to embarrass herself, seeing as he could now sense her feelings.
The Yellow turned her attention back to her Sisters when she heard Allucia speak. “Yes, so tea would be lovely, thank you.” She replied with a smile. Once the tea was in her hand, she gladly took a sip. It was nice, after spending so much time outside and under so much stress, to sit and enjoy a warm drink in a comfortable setting. “Yes, I do believe the Princess and Keraille will agree on the matter.” She paused for another drink of her tea.
The blonde was still not fond of the idea of going to War. She had hoped she could live her life as a Yellow healing others, and never having o fight. But the day’s events had caused her to rethink her views on things. Would she have taken part in the fight if her Mother had not told her to? Well, she had tried to counter the winds before she was ordered to lead the Circle…and she had decided she could not live with herself if her Sisters had been harmed while she could’ve helped prevent it.
No, she didn’t like the thought of fighting, and would avoid it if possible, but she also knew her notions of simply acting on the sidelines, healing the wounded and tending to the sick, were not very likely. If their opponent resurfaced, she would most likely be called upon to lead the fight once more. It was something she would do with honor, glad to serve the Tower, the Light, and the Amyrlin. “Do you think we will hear news from their meeting soon?”
